Yuko Shimizu
Yuko Shimizu is an award-winning Japanese illustrator based in New York and instructor at School of Visual Arts. Visually engaging, imaginative and provocative, she creates a unique and alluring universe through her illustrations.
Her work has appeared on The Gap shirts, Pepsi cans, VISA billboards, Apple, NIKE and Target ads, as well as on the book covers of Penguin, Scholastic, DC Comics, and on the pages of NY Times, Newsweek, Time, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, WIRED and in many other publications.
In 2009, Yuko Shimizu was selected by Newsweek Japan for being one of “100 Japanese People The World Respects”, and she is nominated for the prestigious HUGO Award for Best Professional Artist 2019.
