Stefan Diez, born in Freising in 1971, studied industrial design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart after completing his carpentry apprenticeship. In 2003 he opened his studio in Munich. His work includes products and furniture, household items and technical products as well as exhibition concepts for Hay, Magis, Moroso, Rosenthal, Thonet, Vibia, Wagner and Willkhahn. From 2007 to 2014 he was a professor at the Karlsruhe State University of Design. Since 2018 he has been a professor of industrial design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
The multi-award-winning designer deals intensively with different materials and technologies and continually explores their limits. His products are characterized by precision and simplicity.
